Heritage conservation associated with enhancing quality of life

HNN.VN - The opening ceremony of the 5th Organization of World Heritage Cities Asia-Pacific (OWHC-AP) Regional Conference took place on the afternoon of October 14 at Silk Path Hotel (Hue City).

The conference gathered over 100 domestic and international delegates from 7 countries (the Republic of Korea, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam), including nearly 30 mayors and representatives of member cities, and leading heritage experts in the region.

The theme of this year's conference reflects our shared aspiration for a future, where heritage is not only preserved, but also becomes a source of inspiration for innovation and sustainable development.

The 5th OWHC-AP Conference is an important international event, affirming Hue's position in the global network of heritage cities, while contributing to enhancing Vietnam's prestige and role in the international arena in the field of conserving and promoting cultural heritage values in the context of increasing urbanization.

Taking place over three days (October 14-16), this year’s OWHC-AP Conference is themed “Livability for sustainable development of World Heritage Cities”, focusing on exchanging policies, urban management experience, and solutions to enhance the quality of life in cities that possess unique heritage values.

Hue’s hosting this OWHC-AP Conference affirms that Hue is a typical heritage city of Vietnam, a place that simultaneously preserves traditional cultural values and pioneers initiatives for conservation associated with sustainable development. The event is also an opportunity for Hue to promote its image, culture, and tourism to international friends, attracting the attention of the expert community, international organizations, and young people. At the same time, it contributes to strengthening cooperation relations between heritage cities in the Asia-Pacific region, creating momentum for common initiatives on heritage and urban development.
