Emperor Ham Nghi’s painting exhibition at Kien Trung Palace

HNN.VN - “Sky, Mountains, Water | Allusive Panorama” is a painting exhibition organized by the Art Republik Vietnam magazine in collaboration with Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the French Institute in Vietnam. It will take place from March 25 and last for two weeks at Kien Trung Palace, Hue Imperial Citadel.

The exhibition week will take place during the time Hue hosts the Visit Vietnam Year, in conjunction with Hue Festival 2025, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the City's Liberation Day (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2025).

The event is organized by Hue Monuments Conservation Center in collaboration with the Art Republik Vietnam magazine and the French Institute. It is co-curated by Mr. Ace Le, Editor-in-Chief of the Art Republik; and Dr. Amandine Dabat, the 5th descendant of Emperor Ham Nghi.

For the first time in Vietnam, over 20 original works by Emperor Ham Nghi - gathered from private collections - will be displayed in the exhibition space at Kien Trung Palace, a magnificent and ancient palace with an area of over 300 square meters. This is the ideal setting to honor the nearly 100-year-old works by Emperor Ham Nghi, taking viewers on a journey of art filled with nostalgia and emotion. The public will have the opportunity to admire precious works that reflect the inner world and artistic talent of the patriotic Emperor.

The exhibition features the collaboration of Vietnam's leading experts in restoration and preservation.

On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of Emperor Ham Nghi’s issuance of the Can Vuong Edict (1885 - 2025) - a milestone marking the beginning of the representative patriotic movement of the late 19th century, on the morning of December 7, Hue Monuments Conservation Center organized the heritage education program “Can Vuong tremendous spirit” (“Hao khi Can Vuong”) at Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities and the Nguyen Dynasty’s Privy Council (Co Mat Vien - Tam Toa) space.

On the afternoon of March 24th, at Kien Trung Palace – Hue Imperial Citadel, the exhibition showcasing the artworks of Emperor Ham Nghi themed “Troi, Non, Nuoc | Allusive Panorama” (Sky, Mountain, Water | Allusive Panorama) was officially launched by Art Republik Vietnam magazine, in collaboration with Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the French Institute in Vietnam.
