Unlocking potential

This event focused on realizing the policy of developing green, sustainable industry. At the same time, it promoted Hue’s image as a heritage city pioneering in green transition and attracting high-tech investment, aligned with the Government’s major policies and the city’s aspiration for a “Green Hue.”

Hue has long been known for its culture, history, heritage, and green landscape. However, in the context of globalization and deeper integration, Hue cannot rely solely on these traditional strengths; it must transform decisively in industry - especially green and smart industries. This is not only an inevitable trend of the era but also the only way for Hue to develop economically while preserving the cultural and environmental values of the Ancient Capital.

At the seminar, delegates discussed potential fields for investment and the development of green industrial zones in Hue, Japan’s experience in building industrial parks, and global trends of green industry investment in Vietnam in general, and in Hue in particular. During an open forum, delegates and experts engaged in lively discussions on “Multidimensional Perspectives on Solutions for Attracting Investment and Developing Green Industry in Hue City.”

Delegates proposed that the city should soon provide directions and concrete measures to encourage and facilitate businesses to invest in green industrial zones, circular industrial zones, and sustainable development linked with the eco-industrial park model. They emphasized promoting industrial symbiosis, strengthening cooperation among businesses within an industrial park or across different ones to optimize the use or reuse of inputs and outputs such as raw materials, water, waste, by-products and other elements in the process of manufacturing and business. Accelerating renewable energy development was also highlighted to create industrial products with high “green” content, meeting export standards to major markets like the U.S., Europe, and Japan, thereby increasing the added value for the exported products.

Supportive policies

Hue City has identified green transition as one of its core tasks for breakthrough development. The city focuses on green, clean, and high-tech industries to generate high added value while ensuring environmental balance.

According to Vice Chairman Phan Quy Phuong, the city has introduced numerous policies to promote businesses shifting toward high-tech, green industries, and technological innovation for energy efficiency.

These include support for infrastructure projects both inside and outside project sites, assistance in accessing production and business land, support for market development, subsidies for building circular wastewater treatment facilities, and policies to support innovation, technological improvements, technology transfer, and intellectual property development. The city has also established four task forces, led by leaders of Hue City’s People Committee, to direct, monitor, and address obstacles in key investment projects to accelerate implementation progress.

Vice Chairman Phan Quy Phuong also emphasized that Hue City committed to creating the most favorable conditions for businesses investing in green industries. To achieve this, the city will focus on planning, expanding land reserves for ancillary services in industrial parks, shaping and developing green and eco-industrial zones. Priority will be given to clean, high-tech, and environmentally friendly industries. Businesses will be encouraged to use eco-friendly fuels and renewable energy. Land will also be allocated to build housing for experts and workers, laying a foundation to attract green projects. Policies will continue to be reviewed, refined, and issued to provide incentives and support for green and high-tech industrial projects.

Additionally, Hue will accelerate improvements to the business investment environment, simplify administrative procedures, shorten licensing time, and create a transparent, fair, and efficient investment environment. Infrastructure development will be synchronized, with upgrades to transportation, logistics, and industrial park facilities to meet enterprises’ needs. The city will also develop high-quality human resources in collaboration with universities and vocational institutions to provide a skilled workforce aligned with the needs of modern industry.

Hue City People’s Committee awarding investment certificates to businesses

As part of the seminar, Hue City People’s Committee signed strategic cooperation agreements with Phuong Trang Group JSC and Kim Long Motor Hue JSC, and awarded investment certificates to businesses.

Earlier, delegates paid a visit to the plant of Carlsberg in Phu Bai Industrial Park to learn about its production line and innovations to reduce emissions, heading toward sustainable development; as well as the Gilimex Industrial Park infrastructure investment project.

Speaking at the seminar, Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong affirmed: “Hue will steadfastly pursue its goal of green and sustainable development. The city will focus on building a favorable, transparent investment environment, and create timely supportive policies to accompany businesses in research and investment in Hue. We hope that businesses and investors will give their attention and choose Hue as their destination for green development.”
