A total of 194 students from 31 delegations across the country compete in the exam. The mathematics team has 50 candidates, physics 40, chemistry and biology 33 each, and informatics 38. These top performers are selected from thousands of contestants in the national excellent student competition, including several with prior experience at international Olympiads.
Hue City has 5 students from Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted taking part in the exam: Tran Thanh Binh and Tang Hao Nhien (physics); Nguyen Doan Quoc Anh (chemistry); Vo Huy Hoang (biology); and Phan Cong Dung (informatics). All had previously won first or second prizes at the national excellent student exam.
Under the regulations, candidates invited to sit the exam were required to meet a minimum score threshold in each subject: 26 in mathematics; 23.25 in physics; 26.375 in chemistry; 25 in biology; and 24.79 in informatics.
The exam is designed to align closely with regional and international formats, with informatics in particular following procedures similar to those used in international Olympiads. Invigilation and marking were conducted rigorously, ensuring objectivity and integrity.
Based on the results, the Ministry of Education and Training will select national teams for the 2026 international and regional Olympiads. The mathematics team is expected to compete at the International Mathematical Olympiad in China; the physics team will attend the Asian Physics Olympiad in South Korea before final selection for the International Physics Olympiad in Colombia; while the chemistry, biology, and informatics teams will compete in international contests in Uzbekistan, Lithuania, and other countries.
