The project was approved by the City People’s Committee in 2023, has a total investment of 196 billion VND and is scheduled for implementation from 2024 to 2026. The project includes two main construction components: Package No. 10 - external technical infrastructure, and Package No. 11 - renovation of the indoor arena.
The technical infrastructure under Package No.10 (inaugurated yesterday) began construction on July 16th, 2024, on an area of 7,06 hectares. To date, it has been basically completed with the following facilities: a cultural-festival square covering about 15.000 m² in the south; a sports/fitness square covering about 4.000 m² in the west; an exhibition square covering about 2.000 m² in the north; a community cultural square covering about 13.000 m² in the east; and a flower garden square designed with the theme of the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter.
Around the site, parking areas have been arranged, and the sidewalks upgraded with natural stone paving, combined with landscaped greenery and lawns.
According to Deputy Director Dang Quang Ngoc of the Hue City Investment, Construction and Urban Development Project Management Board (the project’s investor), the highlight of the square is its outdoor musical fountain system, elaborately designed to harmoniously combine music, lighting, and water effects, creating lively and emotionally rich performances. Over the course of more than 60 minutes, audiences can enjoy 20 impressive musical numbers, from lyrical melodies to vibrant rhythms and national pride. Each performance is a refined combination of sound, light, and water effects that transforms the entire square into an appealing “open-air stage”.

As for the remaining component which is the renovation of the indoor arena, the investor aims to complete it in 2026, bringing the entire project into effective operation to serve the community and fulfil its original objectives.
Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh emphasized that this is an important project that gradually perfects the system of cultural, sports, and public facilities, forming another center for cultural, social, sports, and festival events worthy of the city.
The project not only contributes to guiding urban space development, harmoniously connecting the architectural landscape system, and creating a new highlight in public spaces, but also plays a role in promoting socio-economic development and improving the cultural and physical life of the people. It affirms the position of Hue as a centrally governed city, a heritage, cultural and tourism hub of the country.
