HNN.VN - On February 2, the Command of Hue City Border Guard welcomed a delegation from Sekong Provincial Police of Lao People’s Democratic Republic, led by Colonel Khamkhang Thongsa Vat, Deputy Director of Sekong Provincial Police, on a Tet courtesy visit on the occasion of Vietnam’s traditional Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026.

The activity underscored the special friendship and close cooperation between the two units and armed forces in border management and protection. In recent years, relationships between the two sides have been steadily strengthened and further developed positively and effectively.

In 02025, the two sides carried out various coordinated activities, maintaining regular exchanges of information related to border management and protection. They worked proactively and effectively in combating crime and addressing violations of the Agreement on the Regulation of Border Management and Land Border Gates between Vietnam and Laos, thereby helping to ensure political security and public order along the shared border.

The two sides have also maintained close coordination in the management and control of cross-border movement of people, vehicles, and goods through border gates, facilitating border connectivity and promoting socio-economic development between Hue City and Salavan Province in particular, and between Vietnam and Laos in general. Additionally, they have coordinated effectively in information dissemination and public outreach to encourage border communities to fully understand and strictly comply with each country’s laws, adhere to border-related legal documents, and implement relevant bilateral agreements. Diplomatic engagement, exchanges, consultations, and joint patrols between the two border protection forces have been maintained and further strengthened, thereby, contributing to the building of a peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and developing border.

On the occasion of the upcoming traditional Lunar New Year of Vietnam, Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Hue City Border Guard Command and all its officers and soldiers, Colonel Ton That Nguyen Dat, Deputy Commander of Hue City Border Guard, expressed his best wishes for the continued unity and close cooperation between the two units in successfully fulfilling all tasks entrusted by the two Parties, the two States, and the peoples of both countries. He also wished for the strength of the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos lasting forever.
