| The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Truong Luu received Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Ha Vi |
Attending the official meeting, on the side of Thua Thien Hue Province, there was also Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing Member of Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and on the side of the Chinese Embassy, there was also Ms. Dong Bich Du, the Consul General of China in Da Nang City.
At the meeting, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Mr. Le Truong Luu provided information on the socio-economic development of the province over the past period. He shared the good news with the Chinese Embassy that, from January 1, 2025, Thua Thien Hue will be renamed and become Hue City, the sixth centrally-governed municipality of Vietnam.
In recent times, Thua Thien Hue has continued to maintain friendly and cooperative relations with several localities of China, such as Chiet Giang Province, Ngoc Lam City, and Quang Tay Province. Currently, it is promoting the signing of cooperation agreements with the cities Ngoc Lam, Lam Nghi, and Tay An.
Regarding investment cooperation, there are currently 30 Chinese FDI projects in the province, with a total registered capital of approximately 787.5 million USD. These projects mainly operate in the manufacturing and processing, aluminum can manufacturing, construction materials manufacturing, tourism, and commerce sectors. In the field of culture and tourism, China regularly sends art troupes to participate in Hue Festivals.

In the coming time, Thua Thien Hue wishes to further promote the friendly and cooperative relations with localities of China; at the same time, promote, deepen, and expand into new sectors that are suitable to the potential, strengths, and development orientation of each locality. Thua Thien Hue also wishes to promote cooperation programs in the fields of cultural and artistic exchange; preserve and promote heritage and historical values to enhance exchange, understanding, and promote cultural and tourism potential. The province suggests the Chinese Embassy to support it with experiences and techniques to promote the medical examination and treatment using traditional medicine, along with that, support calling for large investors and businesses in China to invest in Hue. Thua Thien Hue Province will create all conditions for the businesses when they come to seek investment opportunities.
Mr. Ha Vi expressed his honor to visit and work in Thua Thien Hue. He was impressed with Thua Thien Hue, especially its extensive heritage system and unique urban area. Thua Thien Hue in particular, and the Central region in general, are promising areas with great potential to attract many Chinese businesses to invest in in the coming time due to their synchronous infrastructure. In his role, he will proactively seek solutions to elevate the diplomatic cooperation and promote cooperation in various fields for the mutual development of the two countries and among the localities of the two countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides exchanged meaningful commemorative souvenirs, with the hope of fostering a growing cooperative relationship in the coming time.
