Mr. Vo Le Nhat highly appreciated the close and affectionate cooperation between KOICA and the city over the past time. The fact that KOICA has sponsored Hue city with the projects "Adjusting the general planning of Hue city to 2020 and the vision to 2030" and Detailed planning of the Perfume River's banks really contributes to changing the landscape of both sides of the Perfume River.

At the meeting, leaders of Hue city informed KOICA about the adjustment of administrative boundaries, as well as the arrangement and establishment of wards. The expansion of Hue city creates opportunities for Hue and serves as a premise to build and develop Thua Thien Hue province into a centrally managed municipality on the basis of preserving and promoting the value of the ancient capital heritage and Hue cultural identity, in which Hue city is the "nucleus", the central city...

To achieve that goal, the city needs the cooperation and sharing of experiences of Korea and KOICA, especially in the management and development of a rational, efficient and sustainable urban system, enhancing urban development management capacity to respond to climate change on the basis of digital technology...

“Implementing ‘Hue culture and tourism smart city development’  project on the basis of support and close coordination of KOICA and consultants in the fields of planning, culture and tourism will create products, services, works on culture and smart tourism for Hue city; and at the same time make a mark for the cooperation relationship between the two sides,” Mr. Cho Han Deog agreed.

The total funding of the five-year project (2021-2025) “Hue culture and tourism smart city development” is USD 14.8 million, including USD 13 million from KOICA and USD 1.8 million from the corresponding provincial budget.

In particular, KOICA supports the development of the project with the aim to improve public management capacity in the field of tourism related to the transformation of the tourism industry towards developing the economy, ensuring a sustainable environment and society. The goal of the project is to develop tourism in Hue city and to build a smart tourism information system; to develop urban cultural tourism center and expand urban walking network in Hue.
