New phase of Blue Dragon Children's Foundation’s project launched

HNN.VN - On the afternoon of August 16, the Provincial Women's Union and Blue Dragon Children's Foundation (Australia) organized a conference to review the operation of the “Preventing minors from migrating unaccompanied to high-income countries for work and child labor abuse in Thua Thien Hue Province” project for the period of 2014-2017, and launch the project’s new phase for the period of 2018-2019.

Over the past four years, the project brought home 39 children, who had dropped out of school to work, with timely mental and physical support, as well as related procedures to send them back to school.

The project also donated books, notebooks, school uniforms and supported tuition to hundreds of students in difficult circumstances and at risk of dropping out of school, living in 14 beneficiary communes of Phu Vang and Phu Loc districts. Besides, it supported these localities in building five charity houses, two community halls; and two playgrounds, etc., with the total value of billions of VND.

In the period 2018-2019, the project will continue to reunite children with their families and reintegrate them into community; provide support to young women and unaccompanied migrant children who have to work early or at risk of early working; improve skills and abilities of provincial, local and community leaders on preventing the situation of unaccompanied migrant children and child labor abuse, and other related issues.
