Hue welcomes the student winning Silver Medal at the International Olympic back home

HNN.VN - On the evening of July 29, at Phu Bai International Airport, teachers and students of Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted warmly welcomed Bui Hoang Dai Duong, a 12th-grade Biology-major class, who had just returned after winning a Silver Medal at the 2025 International Biology Olympiad (IBO) held in the Philippines.

Bui Hoang Dai Duong being welcomed by his teachers and friends 

The competition took place from July 19 to 27, with the participation of 298 contestants from 81 countries and territories. Immediately after the exam ended, Bui Hoang Dai Duong, along with other members of the Vietnamese national team and their teachers, returned to Vietnam and arrived in Hue on the evening of July 29.

Returning to his hometown with the prestigious Silver Medal, Dai Duong was deeply moved by the warm welcome from his family, teachers, and friends. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to those who had always supported and encouraged him throughout his preparation and competition journey.

With Dai Duong’s achievement, Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted now holds a total of 5 medals from the International Biology Olympiad, including 2 Gold Medals and 3 Silver Medals.

Specifically, since 2017, the Biology department has had 5 students participate in the International Biology Olympiad. In 2017, Truong Dong Hung won a Gold Medal in the UK. In 2020, Ho Viet Duc won a Gold Medal in an online competition hosted by Japan. In 2022, Truong Van Quoc Dat won a Silver Medal in Armenia. In 2024, Ho Duc Trung received a Silver Medal in Kazakhstan, and in 2025, Bui Hoang Dai Duong won a Silver Medal in the Philippines.

Earlier, Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted also held a welcome ceremony for Tran Le Thien Nhan, a 12th-grade Physics-major Class 2, who had just won a Silver Medal at the 2025 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in France.

It is a double joy for the teachers and students of Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted 

2025 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) was held in the Republic of France from July 17 to 25, bringing together 406 contestants from 94 countries and territories (including 5 observer teams).

Returning from an outstanding performance at the 55th International Physics Olympiad with a Silver Medal, Tran Le Thien Nhan not only brought pride to Quoc Hoc Hue High School but also affirmed the determination, intellect, and ambition of the young generation in Hue City. Earlier, Tran Le Thien Nhan had also won a Silver Medal at the 25th Asian Physics Olympiad, held from May 4 to 12 in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

It is known that, in addition to Biology, Physics is also a subject in which students from Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted have won many medals at international Olympiads. Up to now, the school has won a total of 9 medals at the International Physics Olympiad and the Asian Physics Olympiad. These include 1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medal, 1 Bronze Medal, and 1 Honorable Mention at the International Physics Olympiad; along with 2 Silver Medals, 2 Bronze Medals, and 1 Honorable Mention at the Asian Physics Olympiad.
