Hue City: Cycling in response to World Bicycle Day and receiving sponsored bicycles for Hue Smart Bike Project

HNN.VN - On the morning of June 3, Hue City People's Committee cooperated with the German International Cooperation Organization (GIZ) and Vietsoftpro Joint Stock Company and related units to organize a cycling event in response to World Bicycle Day (June 3) and to receive sponsored bicycles for Hue Smart Bike project.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Truong Dinh Hanh said that bicycles are a simple and convenient means of transport, suitable for the process of sustainable development, while helping to improve health and protect the environment. This event was organized to spread the cycling movement to everyone in Hue city, cycling for the environment and improving people's health; towards bicycles are ideal vehicles for the trend of "green" traffic and the sustainable development of Hue – an ASEAN Clean Tourism City, a Festival City of Vietnam.

At the event, more than 200 bicycles were sponsored for the city by Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company, An Bao Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company, Gilimex Industrial Park Joint Stock Company, etc., to pilot phase 2 of the City's Public Shared Bicycle System.
From there, it helps people to move economically and conveniently between public transport points or in the city; at the same time, spreading the movement of cycling - cycling for the environment and improve people’s health, in the coming time. This is also a meaningful activity to respond to the "World Environment Day June 5", contributing to raising people's awareness about environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, sustainable development and response to climate change.

After the ceremony, leaders of the province and the city together with 200 union members, women's union members and related units rode together to respond to World Bicycle Day June 3, which is also an event within the framework of the Cycling Week 2023 under the pilot project to build a public shared bicycle system in Hue city.
