Cultural exchange and development of Hue’s cultural identity with the French Republic

HNN.VN - On December 4th, Standing Member of the City Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh held a meeting with Mr. Eric Soulier, the newly appointed Cultural Counsellor of French Embassy and Director of French Institute in Vietnam (Institut français du Vietnam - IFV).

At the meeting, Mr. Eric Soulier expressed his gratitude for the warm and respectful welcome from Hue City leaders, noting that he was particularly impressed by the ancient beauty, tranquility, and rich cultural identity of the former Ancient Capital.

In his new role, Mr. Eric Soulier affirmed that he would continue to strengthen and expand cooperative activities between France and Vietnam, with Hue being one of the key localities in the fields of education - training, tourism, culture, heritage, and creativity. He also expressed his commitment to continuing to accompany and participate in exchange activities at future Hue Festival events, as well as his desire to see cooperation between Hue City and French localities develop comprehensively.

The French Institute will enhance its presence in activities that connect the Francophone community in Hue, promote youth and student exchanges, and expand academic exchange programs. According to Mr. Soulier, Hue has a solid foundation to strongly develop a Francophone community network in the central region.

Permanent Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh expressed his pleasure in welcoming Mr. Eric Soulier on his first working trip to Hue in his new position, and congratulated him on taking on an important role in Vietnam.

The Permanent Vice Chairman confirmed that Hue always values and facilitates cooperation and cultural exchange activities between France and Vietnam, especially in the fields of education, heritage preservation, the arts, and urban creativity. He also hoped that the French Embassy and the French Institute in Hue will continue to coordinate the implementation of cultural exchange projects and programs, promote the French language, and support activities for young people, artists, and those who love French culture in Hue.

He further emphasized that Hue is a city rich in cultural identity and has long maintained many effective cooperation programs with the French Republic. He hoped that the relationship between Hue and French partners will continue to be strengthened and developed, particularly in culture, heritage, sustainable urban development, tourism, and education. Both sides will continue to focus on implementing meaningful activities to elevate the cooperative relationship between the two countries and promote comprehensive collaboration.
