Commemorating and reburying the remains of 18 Vietnamese voluntary soldiers sacrificed in Laos

HNN.VN - On the morning of May 7, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee solemnly held a ceremony to commemorate and rebury the remains of 18 Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts sacrificed in Laos at Hue City's Martyr Cemetery.

The ceremony was attended by the leaders of Special Working Committee of the Government; Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; Military Zone 4, and Laos’ provinces of Salavan and Sekong; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Bui Thanh Ha; and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Dung.

These remains were found and repatriated by the Search and Collection Team 192 after more than seven months of operation in Laos. Among them, there is a martyr with information of his name and hometown; he is Luu Huu Tri, a martyr from Ha Nam, sacrificed on April 3, 1967. According to his family's wish, the remain of martyr Luu Huu Tri was reburied in Hue City's Martyr Cemetery along with other fellow martyrs whose names are still unknown.

Up to now, the Search and Collection Team 192 has found and reburied more than 800 sets of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts sacrificed in the Laos battlefield.

This activity will be implemented by Thua Thien Hue province and Laos in the coming time, as there are hundreds of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts still lying somewhere in Laos.
