Attending the conference were Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing Member of the City Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee; former provincial leaders (now Hue City); and leaders of departments, agencies, and branches.
In 2024, the tourism sector of the Ancient Capital welcomed over 3.9 million visitors, marking an increase of nearly 22% compared to 2023. Of this total, nearly 1.45 million were international visitors, a rise of almost 17% compared to previous year, while domestic tourism saw a 25% increase with 2.5 million visitors. To achieve these results, in addition to the efforts of the entire sector, Hue City Tourism Association has actively contributed to the overall development of the Ancient Capital’s tourism.
In 2024, Hue City Tourism Association organized numerous activities aimed at promoting and connecting Hue's tourism. Simultaneously, the unit collaborated with Vietnam Tourism Association, the National Tourism Administration, the Department of Tourism, and local departments to deploy and participate in tourism fairs; participate in the Government's conference on developing and accelerating tourism in the new phase as well as organizing domestic and foreign famtrips and presstrips to visit and survey tourism products in Hue and tourism promotion programs abroad, etc.
A notable highlight is the campaign to encourage collective action in reducing plastic waste in the tourism sector, which has been done very well. This is one of the significant projects that Hue City Tourism Association has collaborated with the WWF to jointly protect and preserve the environment for Hue tourism. Through the implementation process, many hotels, travel companies, and community households have developed models, initiatives, and plans to reduce the use of single-use plastics in their accommodation businesses...
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and achievements of Hue City Tourism Association. He also affirmed that 2025 is a very special year and expressed the hope that Hue City Tourism Association, based on the planned foundations, will strive together with the Department of Tourism to improve the quality of local tourism products, services, and activities, affirming the position of a centrally-governed municipality, as well as making a mark for the Visit Vietnam Year - Hue 2025.
In 2025, Hue City Tourism Association requests that its affiliated associations proactively develop suitable plans and programs to make a strong mark on the development of the Ancient Capital’s tourism. In addition, it continues to collaborate with the Department of Tourism to participate in related activities, continues to deploy propaganda activities to reduce plastic and encourages the implementation of the plastic waste reduction program in tourism activities in Hue City...
