Hue starts entering winter, beginning a series of long and wet rainy days. But truly, if tourists could “embrace” this Hue’s weather, they will not only fully experience all the senses with the specialty of Hue rain, but can also feel Hue more vivid and authentical in its profound and peaceful space.

One early morning, when opening the door, and you feel a cold breath rush across your face, that is when Hue starts entering winter. Before winter set in, the city endured consecutive, devastating floods; and, in that cold air, there still lingers the smell of fresh mud and the traces of things not yet put back in order.

On the evening of November 22, the Provincial Department of Tourism organized the opening ceremony for the “Wellness Tourism Week” 2024. This event is part of the Winter Festival - “Winter in Hue” (taking place from October to December) of Hue Festival 2024.

“Just one rain in Hue makes it be winter” is how Minh Tu, the journalist, borrowed the ancients to describe Hue rain in the long-running series titled “The awaited rains” in Tuoi Tre newspaper. It could also because the rains always bring a sense of melancholy to Hue, even the rains in the middle of summer days.

Within the framework of Hue Festival 2023, the Winter Festival "Winter in Hue" takes place from October to December with a number of new festival activities that brings more vibrance and attraction to the winter atmosphere of Hue for both local people and tourists.

Despite of the onset of rainy season, when tourists are no longer rushing to seek tourist destinations, Thua Thien Hue is proactively attracting tourists in the last months with numerous winter tourism activities and products in Hue.

In the old days, when most people suffering the life of deprivation and misery, the winter days attached to the boiling stoves of grandmothers and mothers. Up to now, when the life is better, the young people and many other families are keen on gathering around the hot hotpots, or spicy barbecues in the cold days in Hue.

Hue Festival Center informed that the “Winter Reunion” music program with the participation of young music bands within the framework of the Winter Festival - Hue Festival 2022 will take place at 19:00pm on December 24 at the stage in front of Quoc Hoc Hue High school for the Gifted.

The Department of Tourism said that it has just launched the “Hue in me” photo contest with the theme “Winter in Hue”.
