On September 21st, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, received a delegation from Waseda University and the University of Tsukuba (Japan). The working session focused on research and implementation of a project on disaster prevention and control, and adaptation to flooding and climate change in the city.

On the morning of September 18th, Hue City Department of Science and Technology held a council meeting to evaluate and consider commissioning a state-funded science and technology task on developing a real-time system to control and simulate flood propagation and provide smart warnings, serving disaster management and response across the city.

Social housing projects in Hue City are increasingly focusing on investing in synchronized infrastructure, high-quality amenities, and smart technology. These improvements have helped change young people’s perceptions of this type of housing.

On the afternoon of August 20, at Duyet Thi Duong Theater - Hue Imperial Citadel, the City People’s Committee held a conference themed ‘The digital community pioneers together for a smart, creative, secure, safe, and prosperous Hue in the new era of development’.

On the morning of May 29, the Department of Tourism, in collaboration with the project “Hue - A plastic-reduced smart city in Central Vietnam” (TVA) project/WWF-Viet Nam, organized the event “From Check-in Green Hue to Plastic-Free Tourism - A Journey of Spreading”.

The title “National Winner” recognizes Hue City’s efforts in building a green, smart, and environmentally friendly urban area.

On April 22, the project “Hue - A plastic-reduced smart city in Central Vietnam” project (TVA project), in collaboration with the City Department of Education and Training, organized the award ceremony and closing event for the “Global citizens, leading plastic reduction” contest.

On the morning of March 20, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in collaboration with Hue Institute for Development Studies and the project “Hue - A plastic-reduced smart city in Central Vietnam” project (TVA project), organized the “National forum on promoting solutions to reduce plastic packaging through policies and pilot initiatives at the local level”.

On the afternoon of March 16, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh, Standing Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee, held a working session with a delegation from the Fundación Metrópoli (Spain), led by its founder and President, Dr. Alfonso Vegara Gomez.

Hue’s recognition with the Vietnam Smart City Award 2025 in the category of “Smart Governance and Administration” is not merely an acknowledgment of achievements. Behind the award lies a more important question: how is digital government actually operated to create real governance capacity, the one that can be measured and continuously improved?
