On the evening of April 16, the music show titled “Đi mô? Nghe chi?” (Where to Go? What to Listen) Episode 2 took place in the area by the poetic Huong River, attracting a great number of locals and visitors coming to enjoy performances.

At cultural festivals, exchange events, or student programs in Hue, it is not uncommon to see young people dressed in Japanese attire, moving in synchronized formations to vibrant music. They are members of Mirai Yosakoi Club, a yosakoi dance team comprised of students from the Faculty of Japanese Language & Culture, University of Foreign Languages, Hue University.

With a deep love for Trinh’s music, an ophthalmologist has devoted significant effort to analyzing and uncovering many fascinating insights about “eyes” in the lyrics of Trinh Cong Son.

“I write to you, from this island. Cuba, the island of fire, the island of passion”. The poem “From Cuba” by To Huu has stayed with me since my school days. Ever since, I have held a special affection for Cuba - a distant land possessed a beauty both nostalgic and intense, where culture, music, and history blend into a rhythm uniquely of its own…

In 2000, in the short piece entitled “Hue Diary,” written when he returned for the first Hue Festival, musician Trinh Cong Son wrote, “When you have a place to return, or to visit from time to time, you are very fortunate. There, you have a river, a mountain, and you can find again your old friends whose hair used to be black has now turned grey. You might suddenly meet a Hue girl on the street and ask her, ‘Is there anything new in Hue now?’ And immediately, or perhaps by chance, she will recite the two lines from a poem by Bui Giang: “Da thua xu Hue bay gio/ Van con nui Ngu ben bo song Huong” (“Yes, sir, Hue now/ Still has Ngu Mount by the Huong river…”)

One morning in late 2025, at Chieu Cafe on Dang Thai Than Street, behind the Hue Imperial Citadel, young musician Huynh Anh Khang had a conversation with us about music and his love for Hue – the land he feels he “owes a debt to.”

On the morning of March 3, Vietnam Haiku Poetry Club - Hue Ancient Capital Chapter held a gathering and poetry-music exchange to mark the 24th anniversary of Vietnam Poetry Day and celebrate International Women’s Day (March 8).

“Afternoon in My Homeland” was not only an artistic program commemorating the late musician Trinh Cong Son, but also a gathering of kindred spirits who share a deep affinity for his music.

The song “Tinh ca Mua xuan” (“Spring Love Song”) by Tran Hoan, set to a poem by Nguyen Loan, was born in the spring of 1979 and spread quickly in life in the early years after the reunification. Nearly half a century later, the song still resonates, becoming one of the most beloved songs about spring in the treasure of Vietnamese music.

In the mid-20th century, the establishment of multiple music publishing houses positioned Hue as a vital hub of Vietnamese music. As the former imperial capital, the city was both a magnet for prominent composers and a pioneering cradle that shaped the professional contours of Vietnam’s modern and traditional music through its distinguished publishing system.

From the bus’s upper floor, tourists were easy to contemplate Hue City at night and take photos as they passed by Dong Ba Market, Phu Van Lau, Hue Railway Station, or enjoy the beauty of a poetic Hue City illuminated by the lights from Truong Tien Bridge and the lights reflecting from the Perfume River, etc.

The music night "Dialogue with Trinh Cong Son - Love Found," part of the Hue International Festival Week 2024, that took place last weekend, brought the audience a surge of emotions as they were immersed in the melodies of the talented Hue musician under the pouring rain.

Today, the children learned to sing the song "Teachers and Friends" written in the tune of Dang Dan Cung. Following the teacher's tapping rhythm, the cheerful lyrics and melodies of the song were paused and sung by the children in rhythm.
