Once following a friend of mine to Hoi An (Quang Nam province), I was quite impressed with the communal house of Cam Thanh commune. From outside, the building has a bold characteristic of the image of a Vietnamese village with a row of upright areca palm trees. In particular, the structure of sturdy wooden columns and bamboo frames, and available natural materials make visitors feel close to their homeland.

Inanimate pieces of wood have become magnificent unique works of art thanks to the skills and talents of artisans and sculptors. They have shown the beauty of the culture and life of the ethnic people of Co Tu in the mountainous district of Nam Dong.

Lan Vien Co Tich located by the Perfume River still keeps many artworks by Thai Nguyen Ba (Thai Ba). His Hueish paintings of the ancient citadel, woodcarving pictures of Hue girls, and interior decor items, etc., all show the talent of the artist.

The bronze mold is tarnished; the wooden one has some scratches on it due to harsh climate. However, those marks of time do not change the function of the molds. They are still attached to life, helping women preserve and spread their love of making Hue traditional cookies.
