Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Director of the Provincial Department of Tourism, said that on the evening of January 26, within the framework of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF), there was an award ceremony for the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Awards, taking place in Vientiane, Laos. The three cities representing Vietnam have been awarded (which will be effected from 2024 to 2026) namely: Hue (Thua Thien Hue Province), Vung Tau (Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province), and Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh Province).

Few people know that within the premises of the Phuong Duc Primary School at 245 Bui Thi Xuan, Hue City, there exists the only remaining mountain and river deity worship place in the country today - the Son Xuyen Esplanade.

A positive signal at the beginning of 2024 is that many travel companies have registered to bring cruise travel tourists to Chan May port. The remaining challenge is how to attract more high-end tourists to visit, experience, and “spend money” in Hue City.

On the morning of January 21, the People’s Committee of Hue City held a ceremony to relaunch the system of public shared bikes in the city central area.

Ms. Dinh Thi Hoai Trai, Director of the Hue Fine Arts Museum, announced on January 19th that the museum received nearly 60,000 visitors in 2023. Visitors were mainly attracted to Le Ba Dang and Diem Phung Thi art exhibitions. According to Ms. Trai, this figure represents a 40% increase compared to that of the year 2022.

Accordingly, 3 locations organizing high altitude fireworks to welcome the Lunar New Year 2024, the Year of Dragon include Hue City, Quang Dien and Phu Vang districts.

In 2023, Ho Chi Minh Museum in Thua Thien Hue welcomed more than 122,000 visitors to the museum, as well as the relics under its management.

From over 200 nominations and 15.000 votes, the program “Vietnam’s Top 7 Impressions 2023”, held by the editorial board of Sai Gon Tiep Thi (Saigon Marketing), under the group of Saigon Times, has identified 35 most impressive destinations and tourist experiences. Thua Thien Hue has 3 destinations of 3 categories listed in the “Vietnam’s Top 7 Impressions 2023”.

In these days in Hue, the foggy weather immediately brings to my mind the menu of stir-fried khuyet (Sergestid shrimps) with tomato accompanied by raw vegetables. This experience was passed down by my mother.

In 2023, the five localities have promoted tourism linkage and achieved many positive results, especially in product development and tourism promotion. The affiliated group has jointly done promotions at international tourism fairs and organized introduction programs in other countries.
