Nestled deep within the Huong Dien Hydropower Reservoir area in Khe Trai (Huong Tra Ward, Hue City), the Tri-Thien-Hue Regional Party Committee’s tunnel complex was the headquarters of the Regional Party Committee and Hue City Party Committee. From this underground base, they directed all activities of the liberation forces before and after the 1968 Spring offensive. After nearly two decades of practicing art, Mr. Nguyen Van He has found himself returning to one question: How can memories be transformed into hope? That is the vast green casuarina forest that the people of Thai Duong Thuong village (formerly Hai Duong Commune, now part of Thuan An Ward, Hue City) planted decades ago to shield them from the winds, stop the sand, and protect the village.
