Hue has identified tourism and services as its spearhead economic sector. Under the scenario for developing tourism in line with the double-digit growth target, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has set a target for Hue to welcome approximately 2.5 million international visitors in 2026, up 31.5% from 2025. This is both a target and a test of the city’s ability to turn its tourism advantages into revenue, investment opportunities, and ripple effects across other economic sectors.

On October 11th, Vietnam Publishers Association, in coordination with Hue City Youth Union and Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted, organized a Reading Culture Festival for Youth Union members and young people, attracting 300 participants. The event was held ahead of the school's 130th anniversary and the 74th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnam's Publishing, Printing and Book Distribution Sector.

On the morning of October 10, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with ministries, sectors, localities, and relevant agencies, held a launch ceremony for the ‘Every citizen chooses at least one suitable sport to practice regularly’ movement.

“With its advantages in geographical location, seaport infrastructure and regional connectivity, Hue City has considerable potential to develop its logistics sector,” said Do Thai Duong, Project Director of LEC Group at the Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone, in an interview with Hue Today Weekly.

On October 4, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MST) held a ceremony to mark the National Innovation Day 2026 under the theme ‘Innovation - A Driving Force for Society’s Development’, underscoring the need to make innovation a driving force for development across all sectors and fields and throughout society.

Subsequent to their overall first-place finish with 27 medals at the 2026 National Championship and Youth Championship, Hue Sambo is demonstrating strong potential while opening opportunities for the Ancient Capital's sports sector to boost its achievements on Vietnam's elite sports map.

Whenever Hue enters its rainy season, concerns about declining visitor numbers, postponed or canceled tours, and other related challenges begin to emerge. Yet rain is by no means an unusual phenomenon in Hue. Taking a proactive approach to developing suitable products and changing the way tourism is organized during the rainy season is something the tourism sector and travel businesses need to work toward.

Hue has significant room for industrial development, especially as the city expands its development space. This was affirmed by Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Member of the Standing Committee of Hue Party Committee and Head of Hue Economic and Industrial Zones Management Board, in an interview with Hue Today Weekly on the advantages driving the growth of the city’s industrial sector.

On the afternoon of September 18, Hue Tourism College held a conference on business cooperation to improve training quality. The event was attended by representatives from management agencies, professional associations, and businesses operating in the tourism and services sectors.

On September 17, Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Tran Huu Thuy Giang met with Vietnam Railways (VNR) in Hanoi to discuss a proposed steam train service on the Hue - Danang route, which would connect Hue’s tourism sector with destinations across the region.
