Before flowing into neighboring Laos, the A Sap River gathers alluvial deposits that enrich the riverbanks, creating a vast watershed for the A Luoi region. From this advantage, “fishermen” in the highlands have developed capture fisheries and aquaculture, contributing to the formation of a riverside community - future prosperous “fishing villages” along the river.

Some rivers have painted their own portraits in human memory, like the Seine with Paris, the Danube with Vienna, the Nile with Egypt... And with Hue, it is the Huong River – the one that has immersed itself in layers of mist and time, flowing into poetry, music, and painting as a wandering stream.

In the article “Pho Loi River through the Nguyen Dynasty’s Woodblock”, the author Thom Quang cited a historical information: “In Dai Nam thuc luc woodblock No. 154, the carved page 2 recorded that in the year At Mui of Lunar Calendar (1835), Emperor Minh Mang issued an edict for Thua Thien Hue Province to dig Pho Loi River”. The memory of Ao dai in me is simply the image of my mother wearing an Ao dai, in a rush carrying a basket in one hand and hastily putting on a gray Ao dai with the other, getting ready to go to the market. And so, over time, the elegance of the Ao dai worn by Hue’s women, with its flowing silhouette, naturally became a part of me.

Although the Huong River is just located humbly in the area of Thua Thien Hue, this river is still full of beauty from being fierce in the sections of waterfalls in the upstream of the old forest to being gentle and fond when flowing through the delta. Just like that, the Huong River has been an indispensable part in the deep spiritual life of Hue people and Hue culture.
