Not as common as apricot blossoms or chrysanthemums, daffodils can still be found in a few homes in Hue whenever spring returns. Enthusiasts carefully trim the bulbs, change the water, and watch the buds day by day, hoping the flowers will bloom exactly at the turn of the Lunar New Year – an elaborate pastime to welcome the new year.

The chrysanthemum fields grown for the upcoming Lunar New Year of the Horse in Thanh Thuy Ward have been devastated, leaving flower growers with heavy hearts. Everything they have cultivated over the past three months has been swept away by floodwaters.

The long Lunar New Year holiday combined with the rising number of cases has kept the doctors and medical staff at Hue Central Hospital (HCH) constantly on duty without rest. The signs of spring are seen in pots of chrysanthemums and peach blossoms, but the atmosphere remains one of urgency and dedication to patient care and treatment.

Ancient chrysanthemums, a symbol frequently found in heritage structures, clothing, and jewelry of the Nguyen Dynasty, have left their traces but seem to have disappeared from Hue. Meanwhile, the appreciation for these flowers continues as a quiet passion among some "scholars of Ha Thanh".
