The year 2026 opens the 2026–2030 period, marked by increasingly fierce competition to attract resources, talent, and visitors, while Hue cannot pursue rapid urbanization or heavy industry. Hue’s path must be its own: taking heritage, culture, landscape, and ways of life as deep, distinctive, and sustainable advantages; taking creativity and experience as driving forces; and placing the people of Hue at the center of all development policies.

On the morning of January 1st, in the warm sunshine on the first morning of the new year, the area around Ngo Mon Gate of Hue Imperial Citadel became lively as the Nguyen Dynasty Ban Soc ceremony was reenacted in a theatricalized format, officially opening Hue Festival 2026. The event also marked the first festival of the year, attracting a large number of local residents and visitors.

Not only serving as a “red address” for patriotic education, the system of heritage sites related to President Ho Chi Minh in Hue is also an attractive cultural and historical tourism destination that draws visitors.

In the tourism and service development orientation of Hue City for the 2025-2030 period, with a vision to 2045, Hue tourism aims to attract 10-12 million visitors by 2030, achieving annual growth of 18-20%, with international visitors accounting for about 45+50%. Speaking with Hue Today Weekly, Mr. Dinh Manh Thang, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Tourism Association and Chairman of Hue Tourism Association, stated that despite encouraging achievements, Hue tourism still faces issues that require bold change to achieve sustainable development.

Shopping is considered a supplementary factor that enhances the travel experience for tourists. The integration of shopping centers and tourism with shopping activities, art performances, and travel experiences creates new opportunities for Hue to attract and “retain” visitors.

This year’s National Day holiday lasts four days, and many tourists have chosen Hue as their destination to explore, discover, and experience. The lively atmosphere at local attractions and tourist sites has left unforgettable impressions on visitors from near and far.

In the radiant dawn of the lagoon region, travelers from afar sip rich, flavorful coffee while enjoying the vast, beautiful scenery of rippling waters. This fresh experience has been developed into a tourist attraction, creating a unique highlight for visitors to Tam Giang – Cau Hai Lagoon.

Often compared to a “land of a thousand pines” in the heart of Hue, the two hills of Thien An and Vong Canh consistently captivate visitors with their poetic, romantic scenery. Already crowded on regular days, during the holidays they attract even more people who come to breathe in the fresh air and immerse themselves in the lush natural surroundings.

Taking place in the space at the Hue Imperial Citadel, the exhibition of bonsais, orchids, and ornamental stones from the three regions attracted thousands of visitors. The event also honored 104 most excellent works from the three regions all over the country.

The beginning of summer is considered the start of the peak season for domestic tourists. It is also the time when Hue is striving to maintain and attract international visitors. By developing programs under the “Four-season Festival” orientation, this summer’s festival will feature many unique and captivating activities to attract tourists.
