Thua Thien Hue is a region with many dishes honored in the “Journey to find the cultural value of typical Vietnamese cuisine” including Hue beef noodles, tapioca dumplings stuffed with roasted pork sweet soup, mussel rice, tapioca dumplings, mixed vegetarian fig salad, vegetarian rice steamed in lotus leaf.

As the Department of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced, on November 18th, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Dinh Toan Thang, Vietnamese Ambassador to France, Ms. Le Thi Hong Van, Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Ms. Le Thi Thu Hien, Director General of the Department of Cultural Heritage, together with representatives from Ministry of Public Security (Vietnam), the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, and UNESCO, witnessed the transfer ceremony of the ‘Emperor’s Treasure’ golden seal to Vietnam on the afternoon of November 16th at the Vietnamese Embassy in France.

On the morning of November 18, the University of Education, Hue University held a ceremony to receive the Second - Class Labor Medal, and celebrate the 41st anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day.

Thai Hoa Palace, the symbol of imperial power of the Nguyen dynasty, set to be built by Emperor Gia Long in 1805, is currently being undergoing a restoration funded by nearly 130 billion Vietnamese dong from the state budget. The comprehensive conservation and restoration project of Thai Hoa Palace relic began in late 2021 and is scheduled for completion in 2025.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - France diplomatic relations, Jean-Charles Sarrazin, an artist, conducted an instructive discussion on illustration and hands-on drawing session for students of Thuan Hoa High School at the French Institute in Hue, located at No.1 Le Hong Phong Street (Hue City).

On the evening of November 7th, the Vietnamese Cuisine Culture Association held a ceremony to announce and present certificates for the outstanding culinary dishes of Thua Thien Hue province in phase I – 2022, and launched the nomination voting for the second phase in 2023 of the “Journey to discover the typical cultural value of Vietnam’s cuisine”, and awarding membership certificates to the Culinary Culture Association of Thua Thien Hue.

On the morning of November 6, the ceremony to commend and reward a student achieving achievement at the 2023 Asia - Pacific Physics Olympiad, and a student entering the final round of the 23rd “Road to Mount Olympia” (with Vietnamese title “Duong len Dinh Olympia”) took place at Quoc Hoc Hue High school for the Gifted.

On the morning of November 5, at the University of Sciences, Hue University (the host), the 32nd Olympiad in Informatics for Vietnamese students (ICPC) in the Central Region took place.

These are 6 of 121 Vietnamese culinary dishes that have just been honored by the Vietnam Cuisine Culture Association (VCCA) as typical national dishes in phase I of a project titled "Building and Developing Vietnamese Culinary Culture into a National Brand Name”. All of these 6 dishes, including: Hue beef noodle soup, glutinous rice dumplings stuffed with roasted pork in sweet soup, mussel rice, banh loc (glutinous rice dumplings), vegetarian fig salad, and lotus-leaf-wrapped steamed rice; all are close to the gardens and paddy fields of the land.

As a land of culinary quintessence, Hue’s cuisine is highly appreciated and favored by visitors from all over the world. With 6 dishes being honored, Hue proudly outnumbered other provinces and cities.
