With the finalization of the North-South high-speed railway, Hue’s transportation network will encompass five principal modes: road, rail, inland waterways, aviation, and maritime transport, paving the way for the city’s breakthrough development.

While not as large-scale or bustling as many famous flower villages in the North and the South such as Sa Dec (Dong Thap), Cai Mon (Vinh Long), Nhat Tan, Tay Tuu (Hanoi), or Thai Phien (Lam Dong)…, the flower villages supplying Tet flowers in Hue remain vibrant and deeply imbued with local cultural identity.

By December 2026, the city will complete land clearance, handing over 100% of clean site area for construction of the North–South high-speed railway project, in compliance with Government requirements.

On the morning of December 19, at Km 64+400 (Huong Tra Ward), the Ministry of Construction, in coordination with the People’s Committee of Hue City and the People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province, held the groundbreaking ceremony for the investment project to expand the Eastern North-South expressway, Cam Lo - La Son section.

After three days of being cut off due to the flood, the North-South railway line running through Hue City was reopened on the morning of October 31. However, trains SE5/6 and SE9/10 remain temporarily suspended due to the previously adjusted schedule.

The Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon system of Hue City stretches in the Northwest - Southeast direction along the coast, with a length of 68 km and a total surface area of 216 km². It comprises three interconnected lagoons: Tam Giang, Thuy Tu, and Cau Hai. With aquatic flora and fauna considered among the richest in Southeast Asia, this ecosystem has sustained generations of local residents.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), as well as the celebration of the 17th Party Congress of Hue City, term 2025 – 2030, on the morning of August 19, Hue City People’s Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for 4 technical infrastructure projects for relocation areas and cemeteries to support land clearance for the high-speed rail project along the North-South route passing through Hue City.

Alongside efforts to expose the foundations of the South and North towers and the southern and northern perimeter walls, the second phase of the archaeological excavation at the Lieu Coc Twin Towers has yielded over 9.300 samples and artifact fragments. These consist mainly of architectural materials, decorative elements, stele fragments, ceramics, stoneware, terracotta objects, and bronze fragments.

2024 is a significant year in the process of developing Thua Thien Hue into a centrally-governed municipality according to Resolution 54-NQ/TW of the Politburo. Therefore, Hue City is focusing its resources and directing the implementation of key development projects to expand urban space, aiming to create connectivity between the city's North and South districts.

On June 22nd, an impressive assembly of over 150 artifacts, curated from the esteemed collections of 29 antique collectors spanning the North, Central, and South regions of Vietnam, will be showcased at the “Antiques Gathering” exhibition held in the historic Kien Trung Palace, Hue Imperial Citadel.
