In this issue, Hue Today Weekly brings readers in-depth perspectives from experts and experienced writers across the fields of culture, the arts and the heritage economy. On the morning of August 29, the Hue City Youth and Children’s Center, in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Martial Arts Schools, organized the 2nd Expanded Traditional Vietnamese Martial Arts Club Tournament of Buddhist Martial Arts Schools in 2026.

The exhibition, through the language of photography, aims to strengthen Hue City's cultural diplomacy and expand cooperation with diplomatic missions of ASEAN countries in Vietnam. It will also help promote Hue as a heritage city and a distinctive Festival City of Vietnam, as well as an attractive cultural and tourism destination in the Central region. ​

On the afternoon of August 9th, at Lieu Quan Hue Buddhist Cultural Centre, Hue Union of Literature and Arts Associations, in collaboration with Lieu Quan Hue Buddhist Cultural Centre and the family of Nguyen Phan, a late painter, opened the exhibition ‘Nguyen Phan: Echoes of Returning Home’.

The exhibition ‘Golden Heritage – A Convergence of Excellence’ is being held at Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities, showcasing more than 100 valuable artifacts and sets of artifacts crafted during the Nguyen Dynasty. Each object tells a vivid story of history, fine arts, and the royal life.

On the morning of July 31, at the Southern Women’s Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, the Tran Van Khe Scholarship Foundation held the announcement and award presentation ceremony for the 2026 Tran Van Khe Awards. Notably, the Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theatre was one of only two organizations honored in recognition of its outstanding contributions to the preservation, research, and promotion of Vietnam’s traditional music.

On the afternoon of July 20, Hue City Folk Arts Association held a scientific seminar to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Hue Folk Arts (1991-2026).

On July 17, in Hue City, the Vietnam Institute of Culture, Arts, Sports and Tourism held the opening ceremony for its K31 (2025 - 2028) doctoral course in the Central region. This is the Institute’s first doctoral training course held in the Central region.

On July 10, the University of Arts, Hue University, held a send-off ceremony for the 2026 Green Summer Volunteer Campaign, with the participation of nearly 60 volunteer Youth Union members and students.

On the evening of July 7, Hue Museum of Fine Arts officially opened the performance and exhibition program titled “The Knowledge of Tailoring and Wearing Hue Ao Dai” at Diem Phung Thi Art Center (No.17 Le Loi St., Thuan Hoa Ward).

The exhibition “Fine Arts & Heritage” with the theme “The image of the Four Holy Beasts in Visual Arts” is taking place at Kien Trung Palace - Hue Imperial Citadel.

For the first time being organized, the Quintessence of Vietnamese Martial Arts Festival offers the public an artistic space rich in legendary essence, clearly expressing the spirit of martial arts and the cultural identity of the Ancient Capital.
