“Checking-in” the Imperial Citadel with ancient costumes

Visiting the relics of the Nguyen dynasty with ancient Ao dai is one of the things that tourists enjoy when they come to Hue. In the flow of visitors to the Imperial Citadel, many tourists from afar of different ages choose to wear Ao tac and Nhat Binh dresses, etc., to take gorgeous photos in the ancient and solemn space of the Imperial Palace.

At Huu Vu House of the Imperial Citadel, Hue Monuments Conservation Center deploys the rental service of ancient costumes with various types available such as five-panel Ao dai, Ao Tac, and Nhat Binh dresses, the costumes for royal women of the Nguyen Dynasty, which are embroidered with dragon and phoenix patterns, or the symbols implying the meanings of luck and nobility such as Bat Buu, waves, etc. 

The ancient costume rental service also flourishes in Hue City. Some shops such as Gabbana on Dinh Tien Hoang St., Ich Huong Duong on Le Huan St., Ton Nu Ao dai shop on Phan Chu Trinh St., … are well-known as the places of ancient costumes for rent. Each costume for rent costs from 150.000 VND to 600.000 VND.

These days, as the season of domestic tourism begins, the ancient costume rental service is more and more crowded. The group of Hoai Vy, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, chose to wear ancient costumes to pose for photos and catch the memorable moments together.

Hoai Vy shared: “In my opinion, national traditional costumes are gorgeous and it needs to be wider known. That’s the reason why I choose these five-panel Ao dai and Nhat Binh dress to pose for photos to show off to my friends”.
