A cool Hue

The Co Tu people in hamlet 5, Nam Dong commune (merged from Huong Xuan, Thuong Nhat and Huong Son communes) still call Village Elder Tran Dinh Lua (72 years old) the “living treasure” of their village. To this day, he is one of the few remaining people who preserve the sacred sound of the gong that has been intertwined with generations of the Co Tu people.

In late March, thousands of locals and tourists flocked to the Ethnic Cultural Village of A Luoi District to attend the “Highland Spring Colors of A Luoi” festival. Many were deeply moved by a dramatic excerpt from the Ar Puc Festival, which recreated the love story of Cu Hun, Thail, and Klai.

Flowing through the center of Hue City, the Huong River, a heritage river, is one of the iconic symbols of Hue Ancient Capital. A Roang is a border commune of A Luoi district, which is about 90km away from Hue city center. People living here are mainly the Ta Oi people. Being located at the foot of the majestic Truong Son Mountain, A Roang was once a poor and extremely difficult place to travel to.
