5.7 million USD for the project of forest management and protection

HNN.VN - Following the success of phase 1 (1/2013-11/2016) of the "Support for Implementation of Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) in Vietnam” project, its phase 2 (2016-2019) has continued to be financed and entrusted by the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) through the World Bank, with a total budget of 5.7 million USD. On the morning of August 18, the project’s second phase implementation conference was held by the Management Board of Forestry Projects–Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in Hue city.

The second phase of the FCPF is going to be implemented with the objective of continuing to support Vietnam in developing an effective REDD+ management and implementation system. Accordingly, it will focus on governmental level policies, prioritizing forest-related countries; strengthening the provincial implementing capacity for the REDD+, implementing the Emission Reductions ProgramDocument (ERPD), financial payment based on the results in emission reduction of six provinces in the north central coast region of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue.
