In A Luoi, a several hectares of quality persimmon varieties are grown sparsely in Hong Bac, Hong Kim, and Hong Thai towns, etc. The area planting persimmon witnesses the huge decrease in comparison with the past due to the harsh and low quality persimmon varieties being cut off to replace by the high economic value varieties. At present, the locality is planning to develop persimmon as an economic crop to help the people reach the goal of poverty reduction.

Hong Bac is the largest persimmon growing commune. Some households plant around 30 to 40 persimmon trees, and the rest has several trees planted sparsely. Each hectare can be planted with around 330 trees, each tree produces an average of 100kg of fruit.

Currently, the popular grown and grafted persimmon varieties are mainly orange persimmon, mandarin persimmon, egg persimmon, square-shaped persimmon, and pointed persimmon, etc. Over the past 2 years, A Luoi persimmons have been welcomed by the market and even brought to Hue city for consumption as a delicious and clean fruit. The price of persimmon sold at garden is from 15.000 VND to 20.000 VND per kilogram depending on each variety. A Luoi persimmons are all tasty to eat when it is ripen or soaked into crispy persimmons.
