HNN.VN - On the morning of November 29, leaders of Hue City Project Management Board for Transport Construction Investment announced that the project of coastal road and the bridge passing over Thuan An estuary has reached approximately 90% of its total construction value; and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Section 1A is entering its final phase

According to reports from the project contractors (Dat Phuong Group JSC, Tan Nam Construction JSC, and 479 Hoa Binh JSC), the Thuan An bridge section has been completed, with only drainage pipe installation, finishing works, and site cleanup remaining. For sections 1A and 1B, the roadbed, slope reinforcement, cross-drainage systems, partial asphalt paving, and technical box culverts have been completed. Contractors are currently focusing on asphalt concrete paving, laying crushed stone aggregate, and finalizing technical infrastructure.

To date, Dat Phuong Group JSC has completed about 89.2% of its workload; Tan Nam Construction JSC about 88.8%; and 479 Hoa Binh JSC about 98%.

The project of coastal road and the bridge passing over Thuan An Estuary is being implemented in Phase 1, with a total capital investment of 2,400 billion VND. The project spans nearly 7.8 km, with the Thuan An bridge is 2.36 km long. The remaining sections include road Section 1A (starting near the National Highway 49B - Tam Giang Bridge intersection in the former Hai Duong commune), which is approximately 3.24 km long; and road Section 1B (ending at the National Highway 49A - 49B intersection in the former Thuan An town), which is approximately 2.19 km long. These road sections are designed with a cross-section of 26 meters, featuring traffic lanes, median strips, sidewalks, drainage systems, lighting, and traffic safety structures. The Thuan An bridge uses a modern Extradosed structure, with a reinforced concrete substructure on bored pile foundations, balanced cantilever spans, and Super T girders to ensure long-term stability. It features a dense asphalt concrete deck, anti-corrosion railings, and an artistic lighting system.

Contractors are accelerating work on road-related components

Leaders of Hue City Project Management Board for Transport Construction Investment added that the Thuan An bridge is expected to open on November 30; sections 1A and 1B from abutment M2 to the Hoang Sa street intersection are expected to open on December 30. However, opening the entire route to traffic has not yet been approved as Hoang Sa street does not currently meet traffic requirements. Additionally, the project is supplementing the surveillance camera system and artistic bridge lighting, as well as completing sidewalks and drainage systems, to ensure construction quality and traffic safety for people and vehicles.

Looking toward the future and new opportunities

Hue’s elevation to a centrally-governed municipality from early 2025 has taken place in a special context: the country is undergoing a major administrative restructuring, reducing the number of provinces and cities from 63 to 34. While 52 other localities are expanding through mergers, Hue has chosen a different path - no consolidation, no expansion by aggregation, but an upgrade built on its existing identity and structural foundation.
