This event is one of the key activities in the series of celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Hue Liberation Day (March 26th, 1975 - March 26th, 2025) organized by Hue City People's Committee.

The Nguyen Hoang Bridge project was initiated on December 23rd, 2022, with a contractual timeline of 1.090 days. However, with a determined effort to complete the project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hue's Liberation Day, the construction was completed in just 814 days - nearly nine months ahead of schedule - allowing for the technical traffic through opening on March 26th, 2025.

The completion of the Nguyen Hoang Road and Huong River Overpass project contributes to the improvement of the city's main traffic network; enhancing transportation capacity, alleviates congestion, and reduces traffic load on National Highway 1A and key urban routes through Hue. Additionally, the project serves as a driving force for economic, social, and tourism development, improves the quality of life for residents, and facilitates the growth of satellite towns and new residential and urban areas. It also lays the groundwork for expanding Hue’s urban space in multiple directions while optimizing the use of planned land along the project route, generating revenue for the local budget.

Contemporary bamboo in construction

Once following a friend of mine to Hoi An (Quang Nam province), I was quite impressed with the communal house of Cam Thanh commune. From outside, the building has a bold characteristic of the image of a Vietnamese village with a row of upright areca palm trees. In particular, the structure of sturdy wooden columns and bamboo frames, and available natural materials make visitors feel close to their homeland.
