Strengthening peak period patrols to combat IUU fishing

HNN.VN - Over the two days of December 11 and 12, Hue City mobilized forces and vehicles to implement peak period patrol, inspection, and control to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing; while also assessing the national defense and security situation in the city's waters.

With the border guard, police, and fisheries surveillance forces as the core, along with a fleet of two patrol vessels, the patrol aims to promptly detect, prevent, and handle violations of the law; foreign vessels infringing on the sovereignty of Hue City's waters; and inspect fishermen's adherence to regulations in marine resource exploitation, contributing to enhanced management effectiveness and the firm protection of the Fatherland's sea and island sovereignty.

During the mission, the patrol forces focused on comprehensively inspecting fishing activities at sea, especially compliance with regulations on combating IUU fishing; proactively detecting and handling violations.

The forces inspected several fishing vessels operating at sea; at the same time, disseminating legal information, presenting gifts, and national flags to fishermen, contributing to raising their awareness and responsibility in offshore fishing activities.
