Reservoirs have significant flood-control capacity for downstream areas
HNN.VN - Irrigation and hydropower reservoirs in the area continue to operate safely. The Sub-department of Irrigation and Climate Change (the Department of Agriculture and Environment) has prepared plans to proactively operate reservoirs and ensure the safety of downstream areas under different rainfall scenarios.

Huong Dien hydropower reservoir regulated water, with about 165 million m³ of flood-control capacity remaining
On the morning of October 7, the Sub-department of Irrigation and Climate Change reported that irrigation and hydropower reservoirs in the area still have significant flood-control capacity for downstream areas, and are capable of fully absorbing rainfall of 400 - 500 mm.
The city currently has 56 irrigation reservoirs and 13 hydropower reservoirs. Ahead of this year’s typhoon and flood season, the Department of Industry and Trade, and the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in coordination with relevant departments, agencies, and localities, inspected reservoir management and operation, electrical safety, dam and reservoir safety, and natural disaster response preparedness.

Ta Trach reservoir has been regulating water since the morning of October 4 through one deep-discharge gate ahead of heavy rain
According to the forecast issued by the City’s Hydro-Meteorological Station, heavy to very heavy rain is expected across Hue City from October 7 to 9. Total rainfall over the next 24 - 48 hours is forecast to reach 200 - 400 mm generally, with some areas exceeding 500 mm.
The heavy rain may trigger flash floods, landslides, and rockslides in mountainous areas and along rivers and streams, while posing a high risk of flooding in low-lying areas.

Ta Trach, Binh Dien, and Huong Dien reservoirs are three major reservoirs that play a particularly important role in regulating water in the Huong River and the Bo River basins. The three reservoirs have a combined capacity of about 1.8 billion m³, of which approximately 1.2 billion m³ is used for flood regulation.
