Via a wildlife protection hotline, the Phu Loc District Forest Protection Unit received a Javan pangolin from Mr. Đ.P.N., who willingly turned it in.
On the same day, the joint Forest Protection Unit of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan districts received two elongated turtles from Mr. Nguyen Van Thuong, a resident of Duong No Ward, Thuan Hoa District. Meanwhile, the Forest Protection Unit of Phong Dien Town, in cooperation with the local police of Phong My Commune, received a pygmy slow loris from Mr. Hoang Dai, a resident of the commune.
All animals were in stable condition at the time of handover, except for the pygmy slow loris, which had injuries and was in weak health. It was transferred to Vietnam Centre for Natural Resources Conservation and Wildlife Rescue - located in Phong My Commune for emergency care.
All four animals are classified as rare and endangered species listed in Vietnam’s Red Data Book and are strictly protected under the law. Relevant authorities are now carrying out the necessary legal procedures to release the animals back into the wild as soon as possible.
