Over 400 chess and xiangqi players compete in provincial club open tournament

HNN.VN - The second Provincial Club Open Chess and Xiangqi (Co Tuong) Tournament of 2024 commenced on the morning of November 2nd at the Provincial Sports Center, gathering over 400 players from 25 clubs both within and beyond the province.

The chess competition features participants from 19 clubs, including Bach Dang Quang Tri, Chess Youths, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University of Education, Dong Hoi, Lion Chee – Da Nang, Minh Tam, Phu Xuan, Smart Chess, Da Nang Young Talents, Thua Thien Hue Youth, Thuan Hoa, Vinh Thanh 1, Phu Bai No. 1, Ngo Gia Tu Da Nang, Thuy Phuong, Thien Bao, Le Tran Bao, and Tu Ha Truong An.

Meanwhile, the remain six clubs: Da Thanh Ky Dao, Ky Huu Co do, Nui Ban, Song Phao, Mai Am Hy Vong, and Thuan An, compete in Xiangqi.

According to Director Tran Thanh Tuan of the Provincial Sports Center, the tournament aims to promote the practice and development of chess and xiangqi, both in terms of quantity and quality. It also serves as an opportunity to assess player skills, identify outstanding talents, and select athletes for the provincial team in regional and national tournaments.

The tournament concludes on November 3.
