The hair donation program brought joy to female cancer patients

Speaking at the ceremony, Specialist Doctor level II Hoang Thi Lan Huong stated that this is an annual activity to honor women, especially female patients who are bravely battling illness. “Many breast cancer patients face hair loss during treatment, losing their self-confidence. The act of donating wigs not only helps them regain their beauty and faith, but is also a message that they are not alone - that doctors, the community, and organizations are always by their side, providing strength to fight and overcome the disease,” shared Dr. Huong.

At the program, 50 female cancer patients in difficult circumstances were given 50 wigs woven from real hair, along with many meaningful gifts. Hair stylists also provided free styling support, bringing joy and renewed confidence to the women. Notably, the program attracted more than 150 participants to donate their hair, including female hospital staff, women from inside and outside the city, young girls, and many families, with mothers and daughters donating their hair together.

The “Hair donation - Spreading love” program not only brought joy and confidence to female cancer patients, but also contributed to spreading a message of love and sharing to the community, awakening a spirit of compassion and humanity in life.

“Once I happened to hear about my old native land…”

In 2000, in the short piece entitled “Hue Diary,” written when he returned for the first Hue Festival, musician Trinh Cong Son wrote, “When you have a place to return, or to visit from time to time, you are very fortunate. There, you have a river, a mountain, and you can find again your old friends whose hair used to be black has now turned grey. You might suddenly meet a Hue girl on the street and ask her, ‘Is there anything new in Hue now?’ And immediately, or perhaps by chance, she will recite the two lines from a poem by Bui Giang: “Da thua xu Hue bay gio/ Van con nui Ngu ben bo song Huong” (“Yes, sir, Hue now/ Still has Ngu Mount by the Huong river…”)
