Hue honored as “National Winner”

 World Wide Fund for Nature has awarded Hue City the title “National Winner - One Planet City Challenge 2026”

Hue City has recently been awarded the title “National Winner - One Planet City Challenge 2026” by the World Wide Fund for Nature as part of the global One Planet City Challenge 2026, recognizing the city’s outstanding efforts in responding to climate change and promoting sustainable urban development.

According to WWF’s assessment, Hue City was recognized for its progressive urban development vision, clear and highly feasible climate action plan, and emission reduction orientation aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement. In addition, the city’s climate change adaptation solutions were developed based on practical risk assessments, aiming to enhance urban resilience against natural disasters and extreme weather impacts.

WWF also highly appreciated the participation and cooperation of agencies, organizations, businesses, and the community in the process of developing green and low-emission urban policies and solutions, ensuring harmony between economic growth, environmental protection, and improved quality of life for residents.

The title “National Winner” not only recognizes Hue City’s efforts in its journey toward building a green, smart, and environmentally friendly urban area but also affirms the locality’s pioneering role in implementing sustainable development goals and global climate action.

In the coming time, the city will continue implementing sustainable urban development solutions, promoting green transformation, strengthening the application of science and technology, and improving climate adaptation capacity, aiming to build Hue into a distinctive heritage city that is green, clean, bright, and sustainably developed.
