Green spaces
Without the need for long journeys or complicated itineraries, mini camping provides a simple and lightweight outdoor experience that can be enjoyed over a short period of time. Typically lasting only an afternoon or a single night before returning home the next morning, these trips are adequate for many people to recharge. “The simplicity and convenience are exactly what make mini camping so appealing, especially for young families like ours,” said Mr Chi Nhan.
As an avid camper, Mr Nhan and his family regularly pack their tent, food, and basic camping gear on weekends or during their free time. “We usually choose destinations that still retain their natural beauty, such as Thien An Hill, Thuan An Beach, or Loc Binh Beach. We often depart around noon or in the afternoon, spend the night there, and return the next morning. It doesn’t require much money or complicated preparation. The main goal is to relax and spend more time in nature together,” he explained.
For the young couple, mini camping is more than just an outdoor excursion. What they cherish most is the opportunity to enjoy peaceful green spaces all together. With a three-year-old daughter, they prefer giving her the chance to run barefoot on the ground, play in the sand, listen to the waves, watch the sky, and experience nature firsthand rather than spending time with electronic devices.
“There are days when we lie on the beach listening to the whispering casuarina trees and the sound of the sea. Then, early the next morning, we wake up to watch a brilliant sunrise together. Seeing our little girl so happy in those moments fills me with joy and a sense of wonder,” shared Ms Loan.
Affordable and accessible
Ms Loan’s family is not alone in embracing the trend. Mr Tran Van Nhat from Vy Da Ward has been involved in mini camping for more than three years. Having joined numerous trips with friends, he believes the activity is highly budget-friendly.
“Compact folding chairs currently cost between VND100,000 and VND300,000, while tents designed for two to four people range from VND400,000 to under VND1 million, depending on size and material. Since the equipment can be used repeatedly, it’s both economical and practical. That makes this enjoyable activity accessible to almost everyone,” said Mr Nhat.
Hue possesses significant advantages for the development of mini camping thanks to its diverse natural landscapes, including hills, mountains, lakes, streams, beaches, and expansive lagoons; all located within roughly half an hour’s drive from the city center. In recent years, many young people have increasingly favored short, affordable experiences that still offer meaningful memories over extended vacations. As a result, mini camping has gradually become a popular trend among Hue’s youth.
According to Mr Nhat, beyond the appeal of scenic landscapes, the peaceful atmosphere is what makes camping destinations in Hue truly distinctive. “Each location has its own unique charm. But what they all share is a pleasant, fresh, and safe environment. That’s something not every locality can offer,” he said.
Amid the pressures of modern life, the accessibility, convenience, and abundance of green spaces have made mini camping an increasingly popular choice. These short escapes into nature not only provide relaxation and strengthen family and social bonds but also help people regain balance, recharge with positive energy, and reconnect with a sense of peace after busy days.
