| Being intensely focused on the performance |
This is the third time the program is organized in Hue, following its editions in 2019 and 2022. Hue Hiphop Festival 2024 is an event co-organized by the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, Hue Show Event Organizer, and the Unity Crew dance group, with the participation and response of Hiphop clubs nationwide.
Hue Hiphop Festival 2024 featured Tran Thinh, and Yoyo Hau Tu, the MCs; and Pele Pele Malaya, and Ho Tin, the DJs. Besides, the judges, who were Bboy Kidden, BBoy Rey Manh Rey, Bboy Mountain, and PinteerorrPopper PH, oversaw the competition. The contestants competed in two categories including Breaking 1-on-1 and Freestyle 2-on-2, so as to choose the Winner Breaking and the Winner Freestyle. The contestants were scored immediately following each performance. The young contestants, who sat in two rows on the stage, created a lively and close atmosphere, typical of street Hiphop. Their performances were full of improvisation and passion, and they seemed to forget that they were competing, and simply enjoying the music and the joy of meeting people with similar passions.
My Linh, a student at Hue University, an audience member attending the program, shared: “I was passing by here by chance and saw a large crowd gathered, so I stopped by to watch. I know a bit about Hip-hop, but I did not expect it to be so diverse and interesting. Hip-hop brings about a feeling of freedom, liberation, and even humor and fun. After watching the program, I felt very relaxed, excited, and interested in learning more about this type of music.”

Hue Hiphop Festival is within the framework of Hue Sports Festival 2024, a sports festival for community health, which takes place from June 20 to July 5. Hue Sports Festival has created a fiery and energetic summer in the Ancient Capital, with a diverse range of activities, including: Thua Thien Hue Province Men's and Women's Volleyball Clubs Open Tournament, Victory Challenge Sailun Cup 2024 Off-Road Car Race, 3-Region Car Camping Festival, Spider Racing Balance Bike Race, Thua Thien Hue Province 3x3 Basketball Clubs Open Tournament, Thua Thien Hue Province Billiards Clubs Open Tournament, HuaSen Jogging Race 2024 with the theme “Enhancing Health - Elevating Businesses”, the finals of the “Summer Legion Wars 2024” E-sports Tournament - Free Fire, Thua Thien Hue Province 5x5 Basketball Clubs Open Tournament, and Thua Thien Hue TPL-S3 7-a-side Football Tournament. These events were designed to help people raise the awareness of practicing mental and physical health.
Hiphop is more than just “singing talking”; it is the whole unique culture and lifestyle of young people around the world. Hiphop emerged as a movement that developed from the African American and Latino communities in New York during the 1970s, including Rap, DJing, Breakdancing, Graffiti Art, and Beatbox, with a distinctive style of dress including loose clothing, sneakers, snapback hats, and fitted caps, etc. It also has a unique language and a liberal ideology that emphasizes the authenticity, perseverance, and mutual respect. Hiphop is truly a lifestyle, encompassing the values and perspectives on the world of those who pursue it.
