Awarding degrees to 37 specialist doctors - level 1 under Project 585

HNN.VN - On the morning of July 15th, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy held a ceremony to confer graduation certificates and award Level 1 Specialist Doctor degrees to 37 physicians from the 2024 - 2026 cohort, the tenth class trained under Project 585 - the Ministry of Health's pilot program ‘Young Volunteer Doctors for Underserved Areas’.

 Recognizing outstanding trainees for their academic achievements

Project 585 is a significant national initiative designed to train highly qualified young physicians to meet healthcare needs in remote, mountainous, border, island, and other socio-economically disadvantaged areas. The two-year Level 1 Specialist training program comprises 130 academic credits and places a strong emphasis on clinical practice at the Hospital of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Hue Central Hospital under a “One lecturer - One trainee” mentoring model. This approach provides close supervision, enhances professional competence, and equips participants with the skills required to practice independently upon graduation.

Upon completing the program, all 37 trainees met the requirements for graduation across nine specialties: Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Diagnostic Imaging, Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, Emergency and Critical Care, Traditional Medicine, and Infectious Diseases. Among the graduates, seven achieved Good classification (18.9%), 27 earned Fairly Good classification (73%), and three graduated with Average-Good classification. On this occasion, the University also recognized and rewarded eight trainees for their outstanding academic performance and exemplary conduct throughout the course.

To date, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy has launched more than 100 postgraduate training programs and successfully trained over 16.000 postgraduate learners. The University continues to play a vital role in supplying highly qualified healthcare professionals for Vietnam's Central and Central Highlands regions and the country as a whole, helping meet the growing demand for high-quality medical examination, treatment, and public healthcare services.
