Recollection of the Hue imperial city in the early 19th century
HNN.VN - On July 11, at the French Cultural Center, No. 24 Trang Tien street, Hanoi, the book “Recollection of the Hue imperial city in the early 19th century” by Michel Duc Chaigneau (1803-1894), a French -Vietnamese writer, is officially introduced to readers.
The book records the memories of Hue city of a French-Vietnamese person. The author was the son of a French mandarin and a Hue woman, born and raised in Hue during the first 20 years of the 19th century, under the first two reigns of the Nguyen Dynasty_ lasting from the reign of Emperor Gia Long to the first 5 years of the reign of Emperor Minh Mang.
On this occasion, the French Institute in Hanoi - L’Espace, and the National Institute of Culture and Arts in Hue hold a seminar "Inspiring the culture and art in the 19th-20th and 21st centuries".
The seminar is attended by speakers such as Mr. Le Duc Quang, a translator, Mr. Tran Dinh Hang, a Hue researcher and Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung. The organization board also bids for 3 versions of the book "Recollection of the Hue imperial city in the early 19th century". All auction proceed will be used to support the Hue Cultural Foundation.
