The Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon area has much potential for tourism development

The workshop was organized to respond to the "Socio-economic development project for the Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon area in Thua Thien Hue Province until 2030", and at the same time contributing to the assessment of potential and strengths of the folk culture of the Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon area, proposing directions and solutions for sustainable tourism development.

At the workshop, 26 presentations were introduced by managers, scientists, and researchers, who are members of the Provincial Folk Arts Association; as well as people directly involved in tourism sector in Thua Thien Hue.

With the participation of representatives from the Provincial Department of Tourism, and the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, the workshop highlighted general opinions on the potential and practice of exploiting lagoon tourism.

If the State management work is strengthened, and people's community awareness is raised to well promote the inherent potential advantages, tourism in the Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon area will become a key economic sector in the future, contributing to turning Thua Thien Hue into a unique cultural and tourism center of Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

According to Mr. Ho Dang Thanh Ngoc, writer, Chairman of the Provincial Union of Literature and Arts Associations, the Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon system along with the coastal area is a priceless "gift" that nature has bestowed on Thua Thien Hue.

This is a land containing historical and cultural sediments of indigenous and Vietnamese residents throughout the history until now. The natural landscape, economic potential, and historical and cultural values in the process of formation and development of the Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon area need to be studied and evaluated more specifically to better serve the socio-economic development of Thua Thien Hue.
