The exhibition features more than 30 paintings kept by the family of Nguyen Phan, offering Hue public an insight into the artistic world of a painter who made significant contributions to Vietnamese fine arts. The exhibition runs through August 19th.

Nguyen Phan, whose real name was Phan Ngoc Nam, was born in 1940 in Thuy Chau, Huong Thuy, Thua Thien Hue. He graduated from the 2nd Cohort of Hue College of Fine Arts in 1962. In 1965, he received a Silver Medal at the International Art Exhibition in Rome for his work ‘Peaceful Moonlight’.

Throughout his artistic career, Nguyen Phan worked in various fields, including painting, architecture, interior design, landscape planning, and sculpture. He authored or contributed to several projects in Quang Nam and Da Nang, including the Vinh Trinh Monument, the Cay Coc Memorial, and the planning of March 29 Park.

After spending a period focusing on architecture and sculpture, the late painter returned to painting in 1991 and created many works with his own distinctive style. His paintings cover a wide range of subjects, from landscapes, people, and memories of Hue to reflections on time, life, and human existence.

On this occasion, the family of the late painter donated one of his works to Hue Museum of Fine Arts, adding to the museum's collection and helping preserve another mark of Hue and Vietnamese fine arts.
