Hanoi’s street vendors and the shouting of their wares

HNN.VN - This is the theme of a pictures exhibition jointly organized by the French Institute in Hue and the Vien Dong Bac Co Institute (French School of the Far East), which has just been opened at the French Institute in Hue on the afternoon of October 2.

The exhibition brings to viewers authentic images of the life of the Hanoians in the last century

The exhibition showcases a collection of sketches, paintings and watercolor paintings drawn by 15 students of Indochina School of Fine Arts and their teacher - Ferdinand de Fénis between 1925 and 1929.

The artists skillfully portrayed the small world of the street vendors walking around the streets of the capital, under the first sunshine of the day with various stalls of vegetables, sweets and snacks, etc.

The exhibition also introduces to the public 27 black and white photographs of the same period from the collection of the French School of the Far East. Viewers are also able to listen to old ware shouting through the small cassette player fixed on the bicycle.

The exhibition lasts until November 18.
