Displaying photos of Dong Ba market past and present

Representatives of the leaders of Hue City and Management Board of Dong Ba market cut the ribbon to open the exhibition

This is an activity to celebrate the 44th anniversary of Vietnam Reunification Day (April 30), International Labor Day (May 1), responding to Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2019, and directing towards the 120th anniversary of the market construction and development.

The exhibition “Dong Ba market past and present” introduces the construction and development process of Dong Ba market since 19th century up to now, with the highlights through many historical periods such as the establishment of the market with the photos of the market in the old days, the period of patriotic struggle of the traders, the market after liberation period (1975 – 1986), and Dong Ba market in the period of innovation, integration and development (1986 up to now).

The exhibition includes the material and topical photos with 95 photos in various sizes, depicting the road of 120 years of the market construction and development. The exhibition also displays some precious documentary photos about the market at the beginning of the 20th century and the photos marking the development process of the traditional Dong Ba market in the daily life, as well as cultural and socio-economic situations of Hue City.

The exhibition which takes place from April 24 to May 2 is expected to be an attractive destination for tourists, local people and traders to visit during the time of Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2019.

These works are now displayed at Lebadang Art Space of the Hue Museum of Fine Arts (No.15 Le Loi Street, Thuan Hoa Ward). The 75 pieces showcased in this exhibition belong to an art collection that the Museum has patiently and devotedly gathered over many years.
