“Bao dac truong minh” and the story of Lieu Quan Zen

This was the first exhibition to display the horizontal lacquered board of Vien Thong Pagoda presented by Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu 

The exhibition themed "Bao dac truong minh" took place at Campus I of Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Hue city (at Hong Duc Pagoda, 109 Minh Mang street, Hue City). The exhibition was organized by the Vietnam Buddhist Academy on the occasion of the seminar "Lieu Quan Zen: History of formation and development".

Taking place from January 1st, the exhibition displayed more than 200 items of materials including scriptures, books, the Treasury of the True Dharma Eye, documents written by the Nguyen Emperors and given to the monks who receive the precepts, Nguyen Dynasty Imperial Archives, and other valuable Sino-Vietnamese Demotic texts dating from the late 17th century to the second half of the 20th century.

Notably, this was the first exhibition to display the horizontal lacquered board of Vien Thong Pagoda presented by Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu, the scriptures whose printing and circulation sponsored by Patriarch Thiet Dieu Lieu Quan, the Tu Dung steles and many other precious artifacts, etc. There were also more than 100 photographic works of ancient temples, stupas, dharma statues, dharma objects, etc on display.

According to the Organization Committee, the exhibition hoped to contribute to clarifying the merits of Patriarch Thiet Dieu Lieu Quan and the history of the great Zen master through his 5 main lineage branches. On that basis, it initially outlined the lineage of the Lieu Quan Zen since its inception in the early 18th century until today as well as the development Lieu Quan Zen within the nation and overseas.
