The subject of Uncle Ho has been a source of creative inspiration for generations of artists, from those who met him to later artists. For artists living and working in Hue, pursuing the theme of painting Uncle Ho is not only one of their passions and pride but also an incredibly emotional creative journey.
Many paintings of Uncle Ho are portrayed vividly, with unique artistic language, highlighting his modest moral example and his affection for all classes of people.
Using various materials, artists have not only characterized Ho Chi Minh’s portraits and His image associated with historical events in their way but also recreated images of relics, locations, and memorial works related to Him... Viewers seem to travel back in time when they encounter the image “Uncle Ho’s marching with us,” created by artist Nguyen Thu - Huy Oanh in 1970. The work, drawn in pencil on paper, vividly depicts Uncle Ho watching the soldiers’ march with the loving eyes of the nation’s elderly father. In the exhibition space, art lovers also encounter moments of Uncle Ho playing with children, his solitary moments, lotus flowers evoking memories of his homeland in Nghe An, and locations in Hue connected to His life.
“Each artwork is a heartfelt story that the artist wants to convey. Although created at different times with different materials, these works share a common theme of gratitude and reverence for beloved Uncle Ho,” remarked Nguyen Tho, an exhibition visitor.
