Towards a smart city

Since early April 2019, the units implementing the Truong Tien Bridge Lighting Installation Project have focused their human resources, promptly executing items for finalization before April 15. With a total investment of VND 11.7 billion, the project includes the 210 RGBWA color changing lights that illuminate the entire bridge, the DMX 512 standard signal control system capable of producing all color effects, with the light intensity depending on the design of the show. This DMX 512 system’s color and color change speed are uniform and more standard than the old one.

In addition to Truong Tien Bridge Lighting Installation Project, in 2019, the city continues investment in completing the lighting system for central streets, side-streets; newly installs 570 sets of 30w and 60w led lights; replaces 201 sets of 200w led lights at the streets such as Hanoi, Nguyen Hue and Hai Ba Trung. Concurrently, the city also makes an investment in light renovation on the streets in the pavement improvement projects including Nguyen Thai Hoc, Nguyen Tri Phuong - Pho Duc Chinh and Tran Quang Khai ...

Besides, the city invests in installing traffic signal light systems at the intersections like Mai Thuc Loan - Dinh Tien Hoang Streets , Nguyen Trai - Thach Han Streets, Hung Vuong - Nguyen Tri Phuong Streets; upgrades and repairs the side-streets of Thach Han, Nguyen Lo Trach and Hoang Dieu; improves the pavement of Hung Vuong Street, the median strip on Ha Huy Tap Street,  solves the flooding on Chi Lang Street and built the drainage system on Nguyen Chi Thanh and Tang Bat Ho Streets.

Head of Hue City’s Urban Management Department, Mr. Nguyen Viet Bang said, with a total investment of over VND 50 billion, since 2019, the city has been starting dozens of projects to improve the pavements, lower the pavement height, upgrade lighting, improve the parks and green spots. Especially, the city focuses on the projects to improve the pavements of the central areas, install lighting systems in the south of the city, and embellish the parks on both banks of the Perfume River...

According to Mr. Bang, at the fast development rate, the number of tourists to Hue is on the rise, the problem for the city is to invest in parking lots. In 2019, the city invests in upgrading pavements and lowering the pavement height of some streets to meet the need for visitors’ parking lots.

On the north side, the Provincial People's Committee agreed to choose the area near Da Vien Bridge and along Kim Long Road to become the park of the 4-flower-season city, invest in a walkway from Truong Tien Bridge to Da Vien Bridge with a length of 2km and a total investment of about VND 20 billion in order to complete the walkway system connecting both banks of the Perfume River, creating an entertainment space for the people and tourists.

Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh announced that in 2019, the city focused on embellishing and upgrading the urban infrastructure in the central area and creating landscapes, space on both sides of the Perfume River to make a breakthrough for Hue's urban face. In the context of limited budget resources, the city focuses on embellishing green spots, parks along both banks of the Perfume River, lowering the pavement height and upgrading the central streets such as Hung Vuong, Le Lai, Hanoi, Nguyen Hue, improving the 6-way intersection, building a walking street along the Perfume River and implementing the project of surveillance camera system installation.

Mr. Thanh said in order to be worthy of a city as a driving force behind the province, in the coming time, the city would continue to mobilize the resources, set up the project to apply for the provincial budget, and direct the Management Board of the water environment improvement project to accelerate the construction progress, complete on schedule and exploit the surplus capital of the project to embellish the urban area.

The City is developing a plan to apply for the non-refundable grant from the Korean Government for 3 large-scale projects to make a breakthrough for Hue's urban face and aim to build a smart city. It is the project of a walking bridge across the Perfume River, connecting Hue Music Academy to Bui Thi Xuan Park, The second project is to invest more surveillance camera systems and lighting systems on both banks of the Perfume River and the project to improve the rivers and lakes in Thuong Thanh (Upper Citadel) area to prevent flooding with all 3 projects’ total investment of about USD 3 million.

Along with the investment in transport-tourism-service infrastructure, the city implements the solutions for improving the quality of festival activities and services, focusing on ensuring order, preventing touting for business and price rise at tourist attractions. The city also continues to implement the project of "Policy to support the protection and promotion of the value of typical Hue garden houses" and well exploited the eco-tourism projects in the area.
